The company is seeking a Principal Technical Consultant specializing in SAP S4 ABAP for a remote, full-time position in the USA.
The role involves leading technical components of SAP implementations, focusing on ABAP-related activities using the SAP Workbench.
Responsibilities include developing custom SAP code, performing software testing, and creating documentation.
The consultant will execute tasks outlined in client Statements of Work and lead technical aspects of SAP software implementations.
They will act as a technical subject matter expert for SAP integration architecture supporting Vertex’s global indirect tax products.
Collaboration with developers to build, test, and release patches and enhancements is required.
The role also involves assessing customer needs and defining system requirements, ensuring thorough documentation, and staying current with SAP advancements.
The consultant will provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and lead project teams.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with SAP Technology Certifications recommended.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in SAP programming, testing, and debugging is required, including expertise in ABAP OOP, BADIs, BAPIs, and other SAP technologies.
Experience in interface design and development is also necessary.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in ABAP Objects, experience implementing tax systems, and a strong understanding of SAP methodologies.
Familiarity with SAP SD, MM, FI modules, and business process flows is preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.
The role may require extended hours and travel to client sites.
